Filed under: People — Momma @ 3:01 am

Welcome back!

TRIVIA:

In 2006, Japan produced more than twice as many cars (9.8 million) as did the United States (4.4 million). America leads Japan in truck production, however (7 million to 1.7 million).

…well, acourse we does. Americans got sense, that’s why. Cars ain’t useful fer nothin but showin off. But trucks, they got lotsa use. Any trucks. Pickups, they be doin alla farm haulin, dunp trucks, county work. Caint think a none a em what be useless, movin trucks ta them bif eighteen wheeler haulers. They even gots truck rental places fer folks what caint buy one yet. Jes ain’t nothin better’n a truck fer gittin thangs done. Any schoolboy knows that.

Foolish Notions

Filed under: Books and Stuff — Momma @ 7:03 pm

TRIVIA:

While the James Bond novels weren’t an immediate hit when they were published, they did get some recognition from at least one American. John F. Kennedy gave From Russia With Love a nod in one of his speeches.

…y’ know, I think them silly spyin’ books be wheres t’ young boys git all them fool notions. Like, got not jes one but TWO grandsons what want them Nikon rifle scopes fer Christmas. Dunno what they gonna be doin wi’ em, they got no rifles, jes got shotguns. Well, one a em does. T’ other ain’t got nary but a BB gun an a slingshot. Cain’t be figgerin’ what they be thinkin they gonna do, but I be bettin they got t’ idear from sech like that there James Bond, shore nuff.

Fan Mail

Filed under: Art, History — Momma @ 1:48 am

TRIVIA:

In 1933, Mickey Mouse, an animated cartoon character, received 800,000 fan letters.

…now, THAT be one ta throw ya, don’ it. Even folks round here on OR off t’ shine kin tell ta differnce twixt a real feller an a fairy tale one what cain’t answer mail. There be a shop down valley way what sells all kinda what they call unique baby gifts wi’ critters like Mickey on em, an folks round here ain’t WRITIN’ to em, that’s for shore. Where’s ta sense? Even iffen he WAS a real mouse he woulden be writin no letters, ner readin em neither.

The Shot Heard Round The World?

Filed under: History, People — Momma @ 1:40 am

TRIVIA:

The town of Kennesaw, Georgia has required its citizens to own a firearm and ammunition since 1982.

…sound like a good idear ta me. Keeps folks what don’ b’long in yer house, out. Never even thought bout folks what didden have least a shotgun. They be too many folks roun’ here don’ trust a savings account or other sech ta keep they money an thangs safe… round here we put more stock in our shotguns an huntin dogs. Never knowed no one who done it differnt… guess not havin a gun er dog be t’ city folks thinkin they know everthin’ agin.

Dust to dust?

Filed under: Science — Momma @ 1:32 am

TRIVIA:

Most dust particles in your house are made from dead skin.

…well, now, ain’t that a cheery notion. Guess I best be dustin a bit more often… ya walk in my house, an ya gonna think I done saved up a whole nother person. Ain’t a small one, neither. He done needed ta be on diet pills. I allus thought it had more ta do wit’ t’ open winders than t’ folks what passes through t’ doors. But who gots time ta dust, anyhow? Twixt dawn an dusk, they be only so many hours inna day, an most a em be what stirs up t’ dust, not what cleans it up. I best be makin time though. This here notion done give me t’ willies.

Whither thou Snowest?

Filed under: Science — Momma @ 1:22 am

TRIVIA:

An inch (2.5 centimeters) of rain water is equivalent to 15 inches (38.1 centimeters) of dry, powdery snow.

…bout time they done put some useful information on one a these here cards. But they be leavin out a lot too, like t’ rain soaks t’ ground, but t’ snow don’t, cause most a it blows off ta drifts. T’ rain be a lot more useful ta t’ farmers. Don’ seem like no one cares bout that no more. They be more intersted in whether t’ snow gonna intrupt they Disney cruises an trips ta t’ city an sech. I be more worried bout whether it gonna mess wi’ m’ trips ta th’ barn, mysel’.
