Turn on the Lights!

Filed under: Science — Momma @ 1:33 pm

Welcome back!

Need a good idea about how to light up a dark walkway? Have you ever considered looking into the new LED rope lighting? It’s a lot cheaper to use, more energy efficient, than older forms of rope lighting, and much safer besides, as it doesn’t get hot with use. These versatile rope lights are also useful for light sculpture, outlining any borders, or just about any exterior decoration you can imagine.

These lights are an incredible way to promote outdoor safety, energy economy, and express yourself all at the same time. How could it get any better? To find out more about where you can get your own LED rope lighting, follow any link in this post!

What’s in a name?

Filed under: History — Momma @ 1:12 pm

TRIVIA:

Native American Indians used to name their children after the first thing they saw as they left their tepees subsequent to the birth. Hence such strange names as Sitting Bull and Running Water.

…I kin think a worse ways ta name a kid. Fact, there be a woman ole Auntie Sadie went ta school wi’, she wound up havin sixteen younguns, an all a em had funny names. That be cause she insisted on namin em after her dreams. She usta keep pens an papers right by her head at night, case she woke up sudden. Her kids ain’t none t’ worse fer it, I reckon, ceptin maybe ole Farkleberry, but he done changed that ta Berry anyhow. Cain’t say as I blame him, can you?

TRIVIA:

“Hot cockles” was a popular game at Christmas in medieval times. It was a game in which the other players took turns striking the blindfolded player, who had to guess the name of the person delivering each blow. “Hot cockles” was still a Christmas pastime until the Victorian era.

For Roman Catholics, 5 January is St Simeon Stylites’ Day. He was a fifth-century hermit who showed his devotion to God by spending literally years sitting on top of a huge flagpole.

…well, ain’t THAT blame useless. Jes atween you an me, I kin think of a lot more productive ways ta show devotion ta God. What exactly were him sittin on his arse on a flagpole fer years gonna DO other then mebbe give him a bad case a th’ piles? Jes plain foolish, iffen ya ask me, which ya did.

Peace of mind!

Filed under: People — Momma @ 12:30 pm

Do you live in a dark neighborhood, or out in the country? We do, and up until recently, there has been a real problem with seeing what is going on in the yard at night. Strange noises can really make you worry when you can’t see what is causing them. We were always concerned about security as well, because dark yards just seem to invite burglars. We did find a solution, though. Thanks to relatively recent innovations in LED and solar technology, landscape lighting is now available that is cost efficient AND easy to install! We have felt much safer with our sidewalks lined with lights, and our driveway, and our backyard patio. No one will be sneaking up on us now! To find out how to get your own set of lights, just click the link!

Filed under: History — Momma @ 12:02 pm

TRIVIA:

King George III was declared violently insane in 1811, 9 years before he died.

I git em confused cause they keeps usin t’ same name fer lots differnt kings. I think they does it a purpose so’s ya cain’t keep em straight in yer head.
