Welcome back!

TRIVIA:

In the United States, a pound of potato chips costs two hundred times more than a pound of potatoes.

…an it be two hundred times less good fer ya, too. Had me some potato chips a while back, Cousin Mable found em on special at t’ market an brung me some. Salt an vinegar chips, they was. Gived me t’ trots fer two days. No thanky. Don’ understan’ why they be so blamed popular, lessen folks be needin a way ta keep theyself cleaned out. Me, I usual ain’t got no problem wi’ that, so I don’ be needin no chips, no way.

Filed under: Uncategorized — Momma @ 1:48 am

Sure is hard these days to find family friendly software, isn’t it? And if you are looking for mac games you’re in even more of a jam. I just thought I’d take a minute to share with you folks that there actually is a site that does specialize in games for the Mac. They are pretty easy downloads, so no worries about huge file transfers either. You might want to check them out. I included the link to get there above.

The perfect location…

Filed under: Uncategorized — Momma @ 1:29 am

Have you ever taken the time to just sit down and figure out where you would like to live, if things like fixed mortgages were not a problem? If there were no need to apply for loans to finance everything, and you could just pick up everything and go? I have. And I probably wouldn’t be moving very far from where I am right now. I live in Arkansas, mainly because my family is here, but I would prefer to live in Misouri, over near Neosho somewhere, because the location is perfect… just close enough to several major cities to be handy, but far enough away to miss their problems. Still in the Ozarks, but in a state with slightly more political sense. Well, it’s cheaper too. I I did have to get one of those mortgages, it would be for less. Yes, definitely, I would move to Misouri.

Twinkie, twinkie little star?

Filed under: Food, History — Momma @ 11:18 pm

TRIVIA:

Hostess Twinkies were invented in 1931 by James Dewar, manager of Continental Bakeries’ Chicago factory. He envisioned the product as a way of using the company’s thousands of shortcake pans which were otherwise employed only during the strawberry season. Originally called Little Shortcake Fingers, they were renamed Twinkie Fingers, and finally “Twinkies.”

…I remember them thangs. Had em a time or three when I were a kid. Guess they were right near new when I had em. I jes never figgered that the Shortcake Fingers an these newfangled Twinkies was t’ same thang. Y’know, mebbe I’ll be havin Cousin Clara git me some onna next trip she take ta town. She go a lot more offen then what I do.

I want my teddy bear NOW!

Filed under: Art — Momma @ 10:50 pm

I love teddy bears. I collect them. I’ve been looking for an Alpaca one for quite a while now, but every time I found one it was just too ugly or too expensive or both. I found a place online that has them, though, and they sure are cute! They call them Alpaca Direct Teddy Bear. Ignore the picture of the girl below and just check out the bear… I had to use their picture. My bear hasn’t arrived yet! These are supposed to be the softest, cuddliest bears in the world. I’ll let you know on that. They have a lot of other bears too… I included a link!

Space isn’t real enough?

Filed under: People, Science — Momma @ 10:42 pm

TRIVIA:

Because of TV censorship, actress Mariette Hartley was not allowed to show her belly button on Gene Roddenberry’s STAR TREK [episode #78 “All Our Yesterdays” in 1969] but later Roddenberry got even when he gave Hartley “two” belly buttons in the sci-fi movie Genesis II (1973).

…I seen that there STAR TREK oncet. Oncet were enuff. They was jes not real. I don’ like th’ lies they tell onna tv ta make things not real. Now how were anybody in they right mind gonna think she really got two belly buttons, anyhow? I never did understan why anybody would be wastin they time on them there space shows noway. I seen a couple western shows what were pretty good, though.

See the nice guy in the picture down below? He writes a blog you might just find worth looking at. He’s a UCLA professor, and his blog has to do with, among other things, the legal things that celebrities are going through, including the Phil Spector thing that just happened. This Los Angeles Criminal Attorney Blog | California Criminal Defense Lawyers Forum is really worth the read. This guy is even a consultant for court TV!

Now, drink your medicine!

Filed under: Food, History — Momma @ 10:15 pm

TRIVIA:

Coffee as a medicine reached its highest and lowest point in the 1600’s in England. Wild medical contraptions to administer a mixture of coffee and an assortment of heated butter, honey, and oil, became treatments for the sick. Soon tea replaced coffee as the national beverage.

…hooey, what a mess. Onliest thang coffee be real good fer be wakin up inna mornin, an t’ grounds make fer a real good medd on t’ compost heap. I ain’t gonna do wi’out it, but thinkin it be medicine were jes silly. I reckon though iffen they be mixin’ all them thangs tagether, it prolly tasted like medicine, right nuff.
